Carbon footprint, carbon offset

Gamma Telecom is one of the UK’s largest providers of voice services and applications.   

Gamma Telecom commissioned Greenstone to measure their carbon footprint for its network minutes.  This involved measuring all the power consumed in transporting traffic (i.e. minutes worth of telephone calls) across the Gamma network.  Once the carbon footprint was calculated Greenstone provided recommendations on reputable carbon offset providers. In January 2009, Gamma launched Green Minutes, becoming the first UK operator to have a net zero carbon footprint for all calls that are carried across our network.

The introduction of carbon neutral Green Minutes, assists Gamma’s corporate and residential customers, public and voluntary sectors to reduce their carbon footprint.
