Prof Paul Valdes
Non-executive Director
Paul is currently Professor of Physical Geography at the School of Geographical Sciences at the University of Bristol and leader of The Bristol Research Initiative for the Dynamic Global Environment (BRIDGE).
Paul’s work at Bristol is focused on developing a quantitative understanding of the processes that cause natural Earth system change enabling us to better identify future, human-made change. In addition, he works on a range of future climate change issues such as the possible climate effects of Amazonian deforestation. His research team in BRIDGE looks at the complex interactions between all the Earth's components as well as the influence of human activity on global change. Such work provides information to bodies such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and ultimately feeds into the UK government's policy. Paul also serves on the management panel for several national and international climate change research programs.
